Borra Caves located at around 92 Kms from the city Visakhapatnam by road, Borra caves at the Anantagiri Mandal are one of the best places to visit in Vizag. The Caves are just 29 Km on road from Araku Valley. The Borra Caves, also called Borra Guhalu in Telugu language (‘Borra’ means hole, bored into the ground and ‘guhalu’ means caves; Borra also means brain). These are the caves which are around 1400 meters above sea level. These caves were discovered by a geological surveyor in year 1807. These caves are actually formed by the constant pressure that the river water have applied on the rocks of the caves and they get dissolved, slowly but surely and that’s how these caves are in front of you.
