Loleygaon- a destination connected to nature

If you are connected to the nature, then this place is worth visiting for. Lava and Loleygaon are two hamlets located in the Kalimpong, Darjeeling. Since both of them falls in close proximity to each other, the tourists make combined visits to these two natural places.

You can reach this place via Kalimpong or Garubathan. If you are planning to visit Kalimpong, don’t forget to make the day memorable by visiting Lava and Loleygaon together from there.

Loleygaon is a peaceful destination surrounded by lush green forests and picturesque beauty. Several locations in this village offer a breathtaking view of Kanchenjunga range. Here, you can see variety of species of birds and other flora and fauna. It’s a great place for bird watcher.

Places to visit

Loleygan offers surprise to the nature fanatics. Here are some places that sweep of the boredom from your life.

Eco park– Located in the heart of the village, Eco Park is a prime destination for the lovers. Here, the tourists can sip the cup of tea, drench in the beauty of nature and learn about how nature operates. On a day trip, you are allowed to carry a packed lunch.

Canopy walk- at a short distance from the eco-park is the most popular attraction frequented by the tourists alike- The Canopy Walk. There is a 180-meters long hanging wooden tree-top bridge that passes through the dense jungle. The bridges slowly elevates its height and you’ll find strolling yourselves amidst the dense forest. At the beginning, there are few stairs to climb and then you can start having a fairly long walk through out the height and breadth of the jungle. The bridge juggles at time and you need to get hold of the wired fences on both the sides. Look around the dense green forests and you may witness different kind of species living there. Its truly a wild experience! You are allowed for a one way walk and that too for few minutes. There are restrictions about how many people can travel simultaneously on the bridge. You can get down on the other side of the bridge.

To get this memorable experience, you need to buy an entry ticket worth Rs 25 a single person. From thereon, you need to walk through the forest before you walk to the Canopy Walk. If you wish, you can explore the forest beyond the bridge too.

Jhandi Dara View Point– Another place that is worth mentioning is Jhandi Dara Viewpoint. It is actually a sunrise point where you get a wonderful view of sunrise emerging among the Himalayan range. While cars are allowed to go up to this point, but the roads are dirty and filled with swarms, so it is better to trek up this view point.

VIP Bungalow– VIP Bunaglow view point is a well-maintained place that offers a breath taking picturesque of Kanchenjunga mountains. The manicured lawn garden further attracts the tourists.
