Rohru hills travel guide

Rohru is a bustling beautiful and calm town in the district of Shimla in the state of Himachal Pradesh. Rohru is 114km far from Shimla and easily approached by road. The nearest railway station and airport (115km) is in Shimla. This valley famous for trout fishing is ideally located on the banks of the Pabbar River. This beautiful city known for splendid natural beauty and surrounded by many tourist destinations is a perfect summer retreat for the travelers.

Rohru has many incredible facilities for amazing and dynamic tourist activities like camping, hang gliding, para gliding and trekking apart from fishing. This area is a paradise for anglers. It was Raja Bhadri, Raja Bajrang Bahadur Singh of Bahadh made this place attractive for anglers. The city is known for Apple cultivation producing varieties of apples like Royal Delicious and Rich Red.

There are many praise worthy locations in and around Rohru. The natural settings with lush green mountain ranges, beautiful landscapes of the valley and the crystal clear springs make this region a grandeur location. Important attractions here are Shikhru Devta Temple, Chanshal range, Chirgaon and the villages of Dodra and Kwar. Chirgaon is known for many fishing spots including Seema, Sandasu, Tikri and Dhamari. River Pabbar offers great opportunities for rafting and canoeing. The gentle slopes of Chanshal ranges are amazing for heli-skiing.

Places of interests

Shikhru Devta Temple

this temple is highly worshiped by the locals and the fair is helds in it in April. This holy temple is located in the heart of the city.

Chirgaon – this is 15km from Rohru and a perfect place for trout fishing and trekking. The related areas from Chirgaon are; Dhamari, Tikri, Seema, Sandhsu, and Mandi.

Chanshal

this place is covered with snow hence have good ski slopes. Chanshal Pass is located in 4520m and remains open from the month of May to October. Chanshal valley is full of beautiful plants, medicinal plants, scenic view and peace.

Dodra-kwar – the famous beautiful palaces here are; Gajyani-Thach, Dodra, Kalapani and Gaon Pujari, which are not only fascinating but also famous for temples located here.

The trek of TBikri to Kwar is full of fun, this is 45 km trek via- Larot, Chanshal, Gajyani-Thak, Kalapani, Dodra, and Gaon Pujari. This area of Pabbar valley has been developing for fishing, heli sking, hang gliding, paragliding, camping and trekking, rafting and canoeing. This area is built as an adventurous tourist spot by Himanchal Pradesh government.

Rohru Climate
The prime attraction in this city is its pleasant climate. The summers are bright and pleasant with cool ambiance are attractive for all kinds of tourists. The freezing winters and snow clad days are inviting for travelers looking for adventurous travels. Rohru has a moderately warm and pleasant climate in summers and mostly very chilly climate in winters.

Summers (March to June) are pleasant and warm with an average temperature between 14°C and 20°C and with a maximum of about 25°C.
Monsoons (July to October) are very scanty and foliage becomes marvelously beautiful during this period.
Winters (November to February) are chilly and snow bound. The minimum temperature can go as low as -7°C with maximum never crossing 10°C. the climate is excellent for those like chilly atmosphere.

Best Season to visit Rohru is between March and November.

March to November the climate is not chilly and has some warm in the store. It is good for all tourist activities and pilgrimage. The season is good for hang-gliding, fishing, paragliding and river rafting. December to February offer peak winters with subzero climate. It is not good for outdoor activities.
