Tourist places in Himachal Pradesh

Himachal Pradesh has hundreds of places to visit, it is the northern state of India known for its awe inspiring, picturesque landscapes and cultural extravaganza. Situated at an elevation range of 450 meters to 6500 meters above sea level the state has many tourist destinations whose panoramic view and serene splendor make these places a must see. Himachal Pradesh has plenty of such destinations. Prominent among them are: Shimla, Manali, Kullu, Dharmashala, and Kalpa. Let us take a brief look at these destinations and explore what Mother Nature has instilled to make these places so mesmerizing.

Shimla

is the capital of Himachal Pradesh and also the biggest city in the state. The name Shimla is, in fact, derived from the deity Shyamala Devi – incarnation of Goddess Kali. The city of Shimla has breathtaking sceneries such as snow covered hilly terrains, mystic valleys, and fields that swing and sway to the tunes and music of Nature. The forests that surround the city are another attraction which leaves the tourists spellbound throughout their journey.

Manali,

also called as the valley of God, is situated 250 kilo meters away from Shimla. Along with the natural splendor, this city is known for its rich religious and spiritual mythological history. Manali is also famous for adventurous activities like river and stream rafting. Hadimba Devi temple and Rohtang Pass are other places of aesthetic appeal. Manali’s Vashisht and Ram temples are renowned for natural hot springs of Sulphur.

Kullu

is, perhaps, the most desired place for newlywed in Himachal Pradesh because of its riveting valleys, foggy climate and magnificent mountains. The name Kullu, formerly called as Kulanthpitha, literally means ‘end of the habitable world’. The impossible and intimidating Greater Himalayan walls rise beyond the city. The most visited place in Kullu is Sultanpur Palace.

Dharamshala

is the city in Himachal Pradesh where tranquility is personified. This city is known for its peaceful valleys and mountains. It is also home to the headquarters of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. This is a city which is a perfect holiday destination with its unpolluted fresh air, cool streams, and lush greenery surrounding the location.

Kalpa

is another beautiful village in the tribal district of Kinnaur of Himachal Pradesh. It is situated at a height of 2758 meters above sea level. Unlike other places of Himachal Pradesh this serene place is known for its fairy tales and fantasies that leave you captivated. Vineyards and the grandiose mountains of Kinner Kailash range are the other attractions of this place. It is indeed a pleasure to watch the rising Sun rays create spectacular scenes of crimson and golden colors on the mountain walls.

These are just a few places and Himachal Pradesh has a superfluity of such hundreds of places scattered along the length and breadth of the state. Places such as: Solan, Dalhousie, Lahaul & Spiti, Chamba, Hamirpur, Darlaghat, Parwanoo, Bilaspur, Keylong, Rampur, Palampur, Fagu, and Naldhera etc are also equally entrancing. Even though one can see the cultural and linguistic variations, all these destinations of Himachal Pradesh have one thing in common: Unpolluted Scenic Natural Beauty!
