Kurseong Sightseeing – Kurseong tourism

Kurseong is one of the most well known places in the Himalayan valleys of West Bengal in Darjeeling district. It is basically a blissful, uncrowded tiny hill station that is situated at a height of about 1,458 m. There are plenty of things to find here, and the tourists from different corners of the world are quite attracted to pay a visit to this city. It is a wonderful combination of the terraced tea gardens, hill slopes and even orchid nurseries that can be explored either by foot or by a ride in the Toy Train.

Some of the common Kurseong sightseeing includes:

Eagle’s Crag:
This is a place which is located at about a kilometre from the railway station. It is actually a tourist complex, and there is a garden at the top. The garden offers the opportunity to have a spectacular view of the Teesta River and the Kabru peaks from the top. This is one of the major reasons for which tourists are attracted to this place.

St. Mary’s Hill:
This is a hillock that is located around 4 km from Kurseong railway station. This area is very natural and offers a wonderful scenic view. This place is actually covered with lush green forests everywhere that makes it more spectacular and amazing.

Kettle Valley Picnic Spot:
This is a popular picnic spot situated in the town, and is also an interesting place for the tourists to cover. The entire location is scenic, and therefore, offers some of the best views like never before!

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Museum:
This is a very popular museum that is dedicated to one of the famous freedom fighters, Subhash Chandra Bose. It is located at Giddhapahar, and is therefore offers rich display of many important items.

The Tea Estates:

There is plenty of tea estates located in and around Kurseong and therefore, it should not be missed at any cost.

Deer Park
Located 4 kms from town on DowHill, houses an amusement park, a forest museum and a school. It’s a great place for the kids to enjoy.

Other interesting places in Kurseong are Whistle Khoala Waterfalls, St. Paul’s Church, Kunsamnamdoling Gompa, Forest Museum, Bhangzang Salamander Lake, Giddapahar View, Giddapahar Seti Mata Temple, Ambotia Shiva Mandir Temple, Dow hill’s Girls and Boy’s School and Grotto.

you can shop for some beautiful Tibetan handicrafts things and buy some fine quality tea.

Kurseong climate
You can visit Kurseong any time throughout the year. It has moderate temperature, in summer 25-32 degrees Celsius and below 5-10 degrees Celsius in winter. June to August is rainy session.

By Air: The nearest Airport Bagdogra, 60 kms from Kurseong.

By Rail: The two closet Railway Stations are Siliguri (50 kms) and New Jalpaiguri (57 kms) from Kurseong.

By Road: well connected to nearby cities, 51 km from Siliguri and 30 km from Darjeeling
